Way to Win Denounces President Trump's Racist Attacks On Women Of Color Congresswomen

Austin, Texas - Way to Win—the women-led homebase for people, money, and ideas upending politics as usual—invests in key organizations, candidates, and initiatives at the national, state, and local level that are critical to building a reflective democracy that improves people’s lives.

On Monday, President Trump doubled down on his racist weekend attacks toward Congresswomen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, and Ayanna S. Pressley of Massachusetts. After suggesting the Congresswomen “go back” to their countries on Sunday, Trump added Monday, “They’re free to leave if they want.” Tory Gavito, President and Co-Founder of Way to Win, issued the following statement today denouncing President Trump’s latest racist attacks:

“Donald Trump continues to prove what we already know: he is racist and a white supremecist. He attacks these four women of color leaders because he is threatened by them and what they represent. They stand for everything he doesn’t—a reflective democracy striving to work for the best outcome for all people.

This attack is also personal for me and far too many in this country. I was raised by a line of first-generation, Mexican-American women who through their careers and civic engagement, like many immigrants, have made this country stronger. I still remember hearing racists diminish their progress by questioning their contributions and citizenship. Words have consequences. The American people deserve better than the current occupant in the White House.”
